Slammed
At 00:23 Sunday morning NETDEV WATCHDOG yelped “transmit timed out”, reset and, for some reason, stopped talking to the switch until I was able to manually reset it this morning.
The Mac (OSX) on my desk was similarly deaf to the world.
Obviously I’m not running MS SQL, but it was weird that it occurred at the same time as the surge in port 1434 activity over the weekend.
I guess the world is resigned to this happening now. Until the first time the operators of nodes and networks used by DDoS agents are successfully sued for negligence, the stability of the net remains everybody’s collective irresponsibility.
I just hope that the next attack will be on a school-night.
