I’ve never been a fan of web based discussion forums. In principle there’s nothing wrong with them, but it’s always seemed a bit time consuming monitoring them. A bit like blogs.
I’ve always found the Usenet model much easier to deal with.
Of course, the solution for blog monitoring is RSS. So it makes sense that it might be useful for web forum monitoring. Ben Hammersley reports that the localised UpMyStreet Conversations are now available as RSS feeds. Perfect for high-tech gossip delivery I suspect.
